The Nintendo Switch 2 launches on 5 June, but pre-orders of Nintendo’s much-anticipated new console are already selling out. Online retailers across the UK are working with limited stock and high demand, with shoppers battling over the few consoles available. Our Switch 2 stock tracker liveblog is here to help you find one in stock before anyone else.
We’re bringing you real-time Switch 2 stock updates as soon as they happen to give you the best chance of grabbing Nintendo’s new console before everybody else. Pre-orders first opened last week, with the likes of Very, Argos, Amazon, Smyths Toys, HMV, Game, EE and all getting stock of the Switch 2. That early run was quickly snapped up, and now we’re eagerly awaiting more availability.
If you’re in the US, Switch 2 pre-orders were originally set to go live on 9 April, but plans shifted after delaying pre-orders due to concerns over Trump’s tariffs and “evolving market conditions”. However, the date for pre-order invites via the My Nintendo Store hasn’t changed – those are still scheduled to start rolling out from 8 May. Eligible players can register their interest now, but invites are only going to those with at least 12 months of paid Switch Online membership and 50 hours of gameplay before 2 April.

The Switch 2 is sold out everywhere
Sorry to be a negative Nelly so early in the day, but right now the Switch 2 is sold out across UK retailers. You’ll need a dedicated stock tracking liveblog (just like this one!) to have any hopes of finding a console today.
In better news, we’re hoping to see a restock soon at EE and Argos. While most retailers haven’t had any additional availability of the Switch 2 after their initial runs, EE and Argos have regularly popped up again with fresh batches of stock. Let’s see if either retailer will come through for us today.

Nintendo Switch 2 UK release date
Even if you manage to find a ‘buy now’ button that isn’t greyed out today, you’ll have to wait a while to actually get your hands on Nintendo’s new console. The Switch 2 doesn’t launch until 5 June.
Nintendo fans in North America have even worse luck. Because of the Trump administration’s tariff mayhem, Nintendo has delayed opening pre-orders of the Switch 2 in the USA and Canada. The console is mostly made in China, meaning US importers (ie. retailers) would potentially have to pay a huge tax to get hold of stock.
Nintendo is holding off on opening pre-orders until the situation is clearer and it can properly price the console in North America.

Could John Lewis restock the Nintendo Switch 2 today?
John Lewis is one of a handful of retailers known to restock the Switch 2 later in the day rather than in the morning, so it’s high up on our watchlist as we head into the evening.
Elsewhere, retailers like Argos and Very tend to restock early in the day, so chances are we won’t see a fresh batch of consoles from either until tomorrow at the earliest.
They’re all under our close scrutiny however, so hold tight for updates if they happen.

The only place to buy a Switch 2 this afternoon is ShopTo.net. The retailer restocked two of its custom bundles earlier today and stock is still available.

This 2-switch is in stock at Amazon
The Switch 2 is still sold out at Amazon, but there’s plenty of stock of this two-switch fitting.
The double light switch (£19.28, Amazon.co.uk) has a pearlescent finish and captive, backed out terminal screws, allowing you to control up to two different lights at the flick of a button. The screwless front plate clips on and off for an unobtrusive and minimalist style.
It cannot play Zelda.

Where can you buy the Switch 2 carrying case and screen protector?
Oddly enough, the official Nintendo Switch 2 carrying case and screen protector is only available to buy through the My Nintendo Store.
An essential purchase if you want to keep your Switch 2 in pristine condition, the sturdy carrying case has room for six game cartridges and two joy-con straps. It costs £20.99, but we wouldn’t leave home without one.

What other Switch 2 accessories are on pre-order?
Glad you asked, because all of the Nintendo Switch 2 accessories are available to pre-order.
Those include the Nintendo Switch 2 camera, which is used in multiplayer to show your lovely smiling face to your friends. It’s also used in games like Super Mario Party Jamboree, where it lets you appear inside minigames with three other players, stacking goombas on your head, dancing around like a silly billy and popping up out of warp pipes.

That ShopTo.net restock is still alive and kicking
To reiterate earlier news, the only place you’ll find the Switch 2 in stock today is at ShopTo.net.
You can’t buy the console by itself. Instead, the shop has two bundles available for your consideration. They’re expensive compared to the £395.99 price of the standalone Switch 2, but good value considering what’s included.
